Hayden's surgeon looked at his bottom today. She said he does indeed have a fistula. She prefers we leave it alone for now and come back and look at it again in 6 weeks. Most likely, he will have to have it cut open to secondarily induce healing. He will have to go under general anesthesia for that. Sometimes they do heal up without intervention, but surgery is more likely.
Hayden weighed 14 lbs 7 oz at his appointment today. He has been going through a very frustrating growth spurt this week, eating at least every 3 hours. Coinsiding with my stomach virus I had all weekend, it has been hard work having enough milk for him. I've been giving him some formula to get him through and pumping and feeding him at 3 am to try to get my boobs to make more. It's been a long week. This morning I haven't given him any formula and he hasn't had as big of an appetite. Maybe we're transitioning out of the spurt.
We have decided to come to Texas the last 2 weeks of June to visit family before Mike's July deployment to the sand box. Hayden will get to meet his Grandpa Brown, aunts and uncles, and his cousin Avery. I'm so dreading having Hayden in my lap for that flight. Anyone want to buy him his own seat? Two weeks fly by fast, so let us know if you want a spot on our social calendar while we're there!
