This week has been a little more challenging with Hayden, because he has been very unpredictable. His fourth tooth started coming in over the weekend and broke through all the way Tuesday or Wednesday. It has been the most difficult of the teeth he has gotten so far. Sunday and Monday he went on nursing strikes during the day but woke up screaming twice at night. When your nursing and have had boughts of low milk supply anyway, nursing strikes certainly don't help. I have been taking herbal supplements to increase my supply and for those few days I was pumping every chance I got. I had used all of the milk I had gotten from Charla so I supplemented with formula a little (when I could get him to drink). The nursing strike was not just a nursing strike, but an all out feeding strike. Tuesday and Wednesday he wanted to nurse during the day, but my milk supply was not doing well. He would nurse on his normal routine and act like he got enough until it was time for a nap in the afternoon. Then he would just scream when I put him down. I had to nurse him about an hour and a half earlier than usual both of those days to get him to sleep. Yesterday (Thursday) seamed more normal although he did have a much more difficult time going to sleep for his afternoon nap than he should have. After I sang him "Hush Little Baby" and gave him a board book to look at he settled down and fell out.
Today has been a good day so far. We went to get the oil in Mike's truck changed this morning and I shopped at Ross while it was being done. I found some good nursing shirts to replace some of the ones with spit up stains. I wish I could have found some shorts.
About Mike's job: Mike received notice that the 88N position (the one in my last blog) is full and not accepting new guys. The career counselor (retention officer) that he is in contact with here told him to just pick any job within reason and he would write a waiver for it. Now we're waiting for Mike to decide. There are still a few soldiers here from his unit who have yet to depart for Iraq. Once they leave (very soon but I can't post a date) Mike will be more available to set his mind to what job he wants.
Next Wednesday, I am supposed to start watching 2 month old William Baxter. My days are going to be full and I'm going to have to put my computer away during the day. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep up with my blogging on the weekends.
